Kids are sexually aware from an early age. But most of us don\u2019t really seem to give it the consideration or significance it demands. Rather, we\u2019re concerned when we see our five-year-old playing games with sexual connotations, such as pretending to be a doctor or mimicking \u201cmama, dad\u201d. Even today discussing sex is still frowned upon. It is against our social and cultural norms for parents to discuss sex with their children.<\/span><\/p>\n

Boundaries and Agreements<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

It is an essential aspect of personal wellbeing and leading a healthy lifestyle. <\/span>Although India had a vibrant and unrestricted sexual atmosphere in the old days, as illustrated in books such as the Kama Sutra, the temples of Khajuraho with their sexually explicit sculptures, and temple concubines living as a part of our ancient society, contemporary India is far more puzzled about its stance on sex. Despite the fact that we are one of the world\u2019s most populous nations, we avoid talking about sex.<\/span><\/p>\n

Probably it is because of this lack of understanding and reluctance on the part of parents and educators to speak to kids about sex that we have such high mortality rates during childbirth among young mothers who are themselves only entering their adolescent years. Illegal abortion clinics tend to na\u00efve teenage patients who enter into sexual relationships without proper knowledge or preparation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Normalize Awkward<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In India, societal pressure makes it difficult for young and single women who believe they are ready for sex to consult a doctor or a healthcare professional and learn how to practice safe sex. They also use abortion as a method of family planning, putting their health at risk at a young age. Another compelling strategy for having sex education in schools is the existing dangers of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, especially AIDS.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unsafe sex may lead to unwanted parenthood, as well as the outbreak of infection and irreversible emotional harm to young minds. <\/span>The unnatural repression of this sexual appetite has resulted in youth engaging in promiscuous conduct. It has led to sexual offences such as rapes and child abuse. Sex education can help kids realize the difference between a warm embrace and a careless touch. Let them know what is a good touch and bad touch instead of giving our children the impression that sex is bad or evil. Since most parents find it difficult to speak to their children about the birds and bees, educational institutions with parental help will play an important role in providing sex education.
